I grew up in Southern California watching my mother do something remarkable. As a single parent in the 1970s, she built a respected career in commercial real estate — one of the most male-dominated industries of that era — not by playing by someone else's rules, but by leading with her creativity, her ideas, and the sheer force of her intellect. She leveled the field on her own terms, all while devoting herself completely to her kids and to the belief that a better future was always possible.

She was my first role model. And what she gave me was something I've carried into everything I've built: the understanding that creativity, optimism, and the courage to have a dream are not soft things. They are the things that actually change your life.

When I began forming Chella as an idea in 2002, I realized that every one of those lessons applied directly to beauty — and to the way women see themselves. Beauty, when it's done right, isn't about vanity. It's about the moment a woman looks in the mirror and feels like herself. Confident. Ready. Fully present in who she is and excited about who she's becoming.

That realization became the soul of Chella. I wanted to build something that didn't just perform on the skin, but did something deeper — helped women feel empowered in their own identity. Not a version of themselves that meets someone else's standard, but an effortless version of who they already are, made more visible.

Beauty — both internal and external — has the power to change your life. I've seen it. I believe it completely. And it's why Chella exists.
